Position Overview

A Protection Engineer is required to complete HV/LV design, plant commissioning, protection commissioning and protection maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of High Voltage/Low Voltage Protection Systems
  • High Voltage/Low Voltage Protection Commissioning   
  • High Voltage/Low Voltage Protection Maintenance
  • Plant Commissioning Engineer
  • Fault find and rectification measures
  • Technical support for IUS
  • G59/99 Protection Commissioning

Key Competencies

  • Design and application of protection systems
  • Protection and commissioning experience
  • Safety Management
  • Subcontractor management
  • IT literacy
  • Interrogation and fault finding
  • Basic design and procurement of materials for electrical panels – i.e. interposing relay, G59/G99

Essential qualifications & attributes

  • HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Construction site or plant safety trained  - CSCS and/or CCNSG
  • Knowledge and design of complex protection studies would be an advantage  

Desirable qualification & attributes

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Power System Protection
