Position Overview

A CAD Technician is required to assist the design team manager with the effective production of technical drawings in AutoCAD format for projects across a range of IUS workstreams including competitive connections, engineering contracting, high voltage customer services and major projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce clear and concise technical drawings, in standard company form in support of design and delivery functions. 
  • Develop and maintain standard drawing templates
  • Produce as built drawings in support of effective project closure. 
  • Through design change management, update and amend design drawings as required by the project. 
  • Manage the drawings within the company’s document control system.
  • Manage and record the distribution of all drawings to the operations team.
  • Produce ad-hoc drawings in standard form in support of tendering activities.

Essential qualifications & attributes

  • Proficient in the production of 2D drawings in AutoCAD LT (dwg format drawings)
  • Knowledge of engineering principles is essential
  • City & Guilds Award in Computer Aided Design or equivalent is desirable
  • One year’s experience working in the engineering industry
  • Experience of working within an electricity distribution network operator type business is desirable
