Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Integrated Utility Services where we require a Craft Mate to support our Fitters and Jointers. 

Key Responsibilities

IUS, part of the Northern Powergrid group, is an Independent Connections provider (ICP) providing a wide range of services on public & private electrical distribution systems. We also deliver multi-utility services for housing developers for their electric, water and gas mains and services. Our industrial resources provide a wide range of HV, LV cable jointing and electrical mechanical fitting to the highest of standard.

Our main region is within the combined Teesside/North Yorkshire &/or North/West Yorkshire areas so we encourage applications from individuals who live within one of these areas.  IUS do also cover nationwide contracts and so there will be a requirement to work outside of these areas on occasion.

A Craft Mate is a critical role and an integral part of the teams responsible for the installation, inspection and maintenance of equipment that forms part of private, DNO & IDNO electrical infrastructures.

A Craft Mate will team up with either an Electrical / Mechanical Fitter or Jointer whilst undertaking (HV/LV) Cable Jointing, Plant installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of HV switchgear and automation equipment in Yorkshire. In addition to operational support, a mate will act as a safety attendant always ensuring the safety of self and others.

IUS recognise that the Industrial Resource team are at the forefront of the business and are provided with the vehicle, appropriate training, competence, tools, test instruments and PPE to deliver professional experience for our many customers. 

Contracts are based on an attractive 37-hour week delivered Monday to Friday and regular opportunities for overtime for those that want it.

Key Competencies

An interest, experience or aptitude for electrical / mechanical engineering

Essential qualifications & attributes

  • Relevant experience working in a similar role is essential.
  • DNO or IDNO authorised is desirable.
  • Clean driving license

Desirable qualification & attributes

 

  • A mechanical or electrical background
