NPg Load Logger Installation & Commission

Case Study

The VisNet Hub is designed to provide visibility of voltage and current for LV distribution substations. The Hub monitors the outgoing ways of an LV board providing insight about load, faults, and electrical condition across the network. It can measure three phases, plus the neutral for up to six Low Voltage circuits, busbar voltage, and battery status.

OVERVIEW

The VisNet Hub is designed to provide visibility of voltage and current for LV distribution substations. The Hub monitors the outgoing ways of an LV board providing insight about load, faults, and electrical condition across the network. It can measure three phases, plus the neutral for up to six Low Voltage circuits, busbar voltage, and battery status.

The Vis-Net Hub utilises EA Technology’s Low Voltage Common Application Platform operating system, which allows a range of algorithms or Apps to be deployed at the distribution substation to expand the functionality of the unit beyond simple measurement. It can provide information about the state of the electrical network for operators to improve network performance.

DESCRIPTION

Trinity Central substation was comprised of 4 x Merlin Gerin RN2C UDE’s with 17 x LV Network feeder circuits to be monitored. IUS installed and commissioned 5 x EA Load Loggers via unit mag mounts and 4mm binder connections to establish the unit voltage connection. IUS installed 54 x Rogowski coils monitoring 17 x 3 phase feeder circuits, applied 4 x Transformer temperature sensors and commissioned 5 x units on the Service Provider and NPg systems to prove a communications path, check transformer temperature, voltage measurements and overall device status.

“In delivering the LV Load monitor installation programme IUS have conducted themselves in their usual professional and competent manner.  From the initial concept phase through to the full-scale delivery programme they have proved themselves to be flexible and able to quickly accommodate changing priorities to meet their customer’s needs”
